On the 6th of March 2017 representatives from the World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB), and International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) gathered in Washington, DC, for an international seminar, Transparency and Beyond: Harnessing the Power of Accrual in Managing Public Finances.
On this occasion, global organizations reiterated their commitment to strengthen public financial management, by enabling the implementation of high-quality global accrual-based accounting standards by governments all over the world, thus consolidating public trust and supporting high quality financial information.
The event was also a milestone for IPSASB’s strategic direction for the next five years: future projects to be undertaken by the Board, its cooperation with other global organizations and national standard-setters.
