A recent press release published on the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) is presenting a summary of the open letter issued by the IFAC President, Mrs Olivia Kirtley, to His Holiness, Pope Francis, following his call to the accounting profession uttered during the World Congress of Accountants that took place in Rome, in 2014.
His call was aiming at a more categorical involvement of the accounting profession and of its leaders in preventing and fighting global fraud and corruption.
As IFAC President stated in her open letter, IFAC efforts have been concentrating on three directions: building capacities, better governance and public sector financial management.
