CECCAR brings together international leaders, Romanian experts, institutions, and authorities to shape the future of the economy in a time when the accounting profession is undergoing a profound transformation.
Artificial intelligence is not replacing professional accountants – it is amplifying their expertise. Guided by this vision, the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania (CECCAR) will host, on October 7-8, 2025, at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest, the 25th Congress of the Accounting Profession in Romania, under the theme SMART ACCOUNTING powered by AI.
This landmark event will explore how AI is transforming the accounting profession, business environments, and the collaborative relationship between professionals, companies, and regulatory institutions.
At the heart of the Congress lies a key question: How is artificial intelligence redefining the very essence of the profession?
Over two days of dialogue, finance and accounting professionals, business leaders, regulators, academics, and international experts will examine three core dimensions of #SmartAccounting: business compliance, business advice, and business security.
Discussions will focus on how AI impacts the profession – from operational efficiency and ethics to voluntary tax compliance and economic fraud investigation.
“The essence of the accounting profession is not disappearing – it is being redefined”, CECCAR emphasizes. “The focus is shifting toward analytical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to interpret complex data – in a human-technology symbiosis adapted to an ever-changing economic landscape”.
Rapid advances in artificial intelligence are reshaping the financial-accounting world, enabling firms and practitioners to achieve new levels of efficiency, accuracy, and strategic insight.
The first day of the Congress will feature the official opening ceremony, messages from institutional partners, and a plenary session.
The second day will be dedicated to three thematic panels, organized in partnership with prestigious international organizations:
- Challenges, Opportunities, and Ethics of Using AI in SMPs – organized with Accountancy Europe
- Taxation and Automation Driven by AI – organized with ETAF
- Artificial Intelligence in Forensic Accounting: Transforming Investigation, Detection, and Prevention of Economic Fraud
In a world shaped by digital transformation – where artificial intelligence and economic shifts are rewriting the rules of business – accounting professionals are called to embrace the future with confidence and responsibility. “SMART ACCOUNTING powered by AI” is not a trend; it is a reality already redefining the profession.
Financial strategies are being reimagined, and business success increasingly depends on the synergy between intelligent automation and human expertise.
