Agreed-Upon Procedures Engagements (AUP) provide a great opportunity for small and medium-sized practices (PMMs) to grow and provide a valued service to their clients.
Given that the demand for agreed upon procedures mission is growing, International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) published in December last year a series of underlying publications for the application of the International Standard on Related Services 4400 (revised). Among these, there is the paper Agreed-Upon Procedures Engagements- A Growth and Value Opportunity.
This publication describes the AUP engagements, identifies the benefits to clients offering such services and when it is appropriate. It covers examples of financial and non-financial AUP engagements, six short case studies with examples procedures that might be applied, and the illustration of an AUP report from ISRS 4400.
The publication’s primarily targeted audience is practitioners, regulators and policy makers, but it can be useful for regulatory bodies, policy factors and other stakeholders.
