On 3-5 June 2018, the Accountants Association in Poland (SKwP) hosted in Wieliczka an International Conference regarding „The Future of the Profession of Accountants”, bringing together Polish professional accountants and representatives of the economic sector, but also representatives of European professional accountancy organizations, such as CECCAR, DStV (Germany), AEA (Estonia), AAA (Lithuania), AAARS (Republic of Srpska) and GFPAA (Georgia).
The event began with an international panel on the condition of the accountancy profession and its support by the professional organizations, discussing the legal status of professional accountants in the participating countries, the rights, obligations and responsibilities of professional accountants, the qualification process, professional ethics, and the protection of the profession.
The technical sessions of the conference that followed the international panel included debates on the changes in economy and related challenges for the profession, the future of accountants, the pressure of the economic and IT developments on the profession, and specific challenges related to cybersecurity.
