Further to the position paper issued in 2015 on the role of professional accountants in tax, Accountancy Europe published, on July 20, 2017, a new document on this subject, structured as a Q&A paper focused on three points:
- Clarifying the role of professional accountants in advising taxpayers and tax authorities;
- Setting out fundamental principles accountants should comply with when providing tax advice;
- Analysing how technology changes the future of tax and what this means for the role of accountants.
The document was issued as a response to the questions raised by the actors in the tax environment regarding the role played by professional accountants in the functioning of tax systems, and is available for download from Accountancy Europe’s website.
