On the occasion of the 16th Conference of the International Federation of Francophone Expert Accountants and Auditors (FIDEF) that took place in Madagascar, a clear diagnose of the current organization of the Francophone accounting profession and of the need to make it progress so that it be better prepared to meet the ever higher and more diverse demands of the private sector and of the Government, in the context of the on-going improvement of public finance management.
In order to review current models of organization for the accountancy profession, where the profession is not or not sufficiently regulated, and to propose a new structure that encompasses the players that intervene in the chain of producing accounting and financial information, FIDEF has taken the initiative to call for the professional bodies in the Francophone countries to implement the necessary reforms, taking into account their national environments.
In this undertaking, „Call for a stronger accounting profession in the service of the economy”, FIDEF is being supported by member organizations, by IFAC, by PAFA (Pan African Federation of Accountants) and by the World Bank.
