The partnership between the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) was extended last week through the conclusion of a further cooperation agreement between the two institutions, which was signed on the occasion of the conference organized by ACCA regarding The Future of the Accounting and Audit Profession. The event took place in Bucharest, marking the 10th anniversary since the opening of ACCA’s local office in Romania.
The Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania, as a partner of ACCA, was represented at the highest level at the event organised at the Intercontinental Hotel, by its President, Prof. Robert Aurelian Șova, PhD, who signed the above mentioned document with the ACCA’s Executive Director for Markets, Mr. Stephen Heathcote.
CECCAR collaborates with ACCA since 2003, based on a cooperation agreement regarding the recognition of professional qualifications, followed by an agreement signed in 2009 regarding the recognition of continuous professional development, applicable to individuals holding membership with both the professional bodies. Through this agreement, ACCA supports a limited number of CECCAR trainees and members, by offering special financial conditions for the ACCA qualification registration. According to the agreement, which is valid up to 31 March 2017, the trainees and members on the CECCAR programmes that are considered for accreditation by ACCA will be able to register with ACCA before they complete their studies and benefit of the agreement’s special conditions only if their ACCA exemptions are obtained following their status as CECCAR trainees or members”. The event brought together over 200 participants, with a significant attendance from professional accountants who are members of CECCAR.
The CECCAR President, Prof. Robert Aurelian Șova, PhD, emphasized the importance of this agreement during his speech, and discussed key issues related to the subject brought to the attention of the participants, reminding that professional accountants should understand their importance in the Romanian business environment. “I spoke with the ACCA President about the necessity of an accreditation for our training programs, based on the cooperation between our institutes. It is very important for us to provide a training environment for future professionals that will ensure their success on the market”, stated Prof. Robert Aurelian Șova, PhD, during the conference.
