Robert-Aurelian Șova, vice-president of the Superior Council of CECCAR and spokesperson, gave an interview to Capital magazine in which he talked about the partnership between Romania and the United States of America (USA), the one who has the power to transform the accounting world.
Recently, the Romanian accounting profession entered into a partnership with the representative professional body in the USA. What does this partnership mean?
Robert-Aurelian Șova: This collaboration with AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) & CIMA (The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), together representing the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, began last year. Knowing the best practices in the US with regard to forensic accounting, we considered it appropriate the exchange of best practices and know-how transfer in this area.
In fact, this is how the collaboration between CECCAR (the Body of Expert and Licensed Accountants of Romania) and the professional body in the United States began. With their support, CECCAR will soon launch the professional standard and the specialisation programme in forensic accounting.
We have already moved to the next level and signed a Memorandum of Understanding that supports continuous professional development and business performance, a win-win cooperation that can make the accounting world a smarter and more efficient place, conducive to a resilient economy.
Moreover, this partnership occurred amid growing demand for financial-accounting professionals with an extended set of skills, including strategic thinking and digital skills.
